This business is divided into two basic divisions. One division is a promotional products distributor and generates approximately one-third of the company’s revenue. In general, promotional products would be defined as any product or apparel item that includes a company, team, or organization’s logo. The second division is on the supplier side of the promotional products industry and manufactures a myriad of products to include name badges, plaques, trophies, acrylic signs, lasered wood products, lasered lucite glass, lasered stainless steel, engraved metal, engraved plastic, etc. This division accounts for about two-thirds of the total revenue. The company is a member of ASI (Advertising Specialty Institute) which is the primary association supporting the promotional products industry both from the distributor side and supplier/manufacturer side of the industry.
The business is currently located in a stand-alone commercial building that consists of approximately 6000 square feet on the first floor, 1500 square feet of usable space in the basement and 500 square feet used for the silk-screening department. The options to operate the business are to lease the building, purchase the building, or relocate to another location.
1. Develop an advertising program. 2. Develop a social media strategy. 3. Attend Industry Trade Shows. 4. Update and Revise Catalog for Distributors. 5. Add an outside sales representative for Promotional Products Distributor Division.
Although there are a large number of promotional product distributors, many of them are home-based one-person part-time operations that do not rival the size of this operation. It needs to be recognized that although the promotional products industry does have competition, every organization, company, team, etc. is a potential customer due to an extremely large number and diverse offering of products. The opportunity to sell these products are truly endless. On the manufacturing side of the business, competition tends to be more limited, especially when you are as entrenched with distributors as long as this business has been. They have a solid reputation of providing quality products that are delivered on time.
Retirement.
Will train for 2 weeks @ no cost The promotional products distributor sells products from approximately five to six thousand suppliers/manufacturers affiliated with the Advertising Specialty Industry. They do business with the end user of the products being sold to for the purposes of such things as branding, incentivizing, rewarding, advertising and many other uses. Many thousands of distributors place orders with the manufacturing division to be shipped to the end user (distributor’s customer). They receive orders for name badges, plaques, trophies, acrylic signs, lasered wood products, lasered lucite glass, lasered stainless steel, engraved metal, and engraved plastic. Most of the products produced are used for some type of sign application. However, about 50% of the manufactured product orders are name badges and approximately 10% are plaques. The remaining 40% of manufactured orders would consist primarily of some type of sign application using a variety of materials and processes such as silk screening, lasering and engraving.
