Fish and lobster pound specializing in live lobster holding and packing for export. Utilizing a combination of storage methods, from individually slotted, as well as traditional floater tanks – they employ a range of holding systems to support a variety of live lobster storage. In addition, along with supplying bait for various fisheries, the company produces an assortment of dried and salted fish for a maritime based company who distribute a variety of fish products around the globe. And as well the company is one of the few businesses providing fresh ice, certified by the Canada Food Inspection Agency, primarily to the fishing industry throughout Nova Scotia.
The plant encompasses thirteen buildings housing various live lobster tanks, fish processing, ice house, cold storage along with various sheds that support fishing operations.
The plant is located in the southerly part of Nova Scotia, Canada. This area is considered the ‘Lobster Capital of the World’, near the world’s most lucrative lobster fishing grounds.
The live lobster fishery has many competitors and each wharf in the Province would have a local market operating. For fish processing there is a direct relationship for many years with one distributor. The company does not anticipate any changes. For ice there are few competitors regionally and the company transports ice all over Nova Scotia.
