This sign company designs, fabricates, and installs all types of interior and exterior signs. The company has a focus on bidding contracts with General Contractors - this is primarily for ADA and interior signs but also leads to some monument sign work. They work with a wholesale fabricator who builds all of the monument and electrical signs. The owner has a contractor’s license which allows the company to work with General Contractors and also provides the ability to install any type of exterior sign. Their design background has allowed them the ability to take on complex projects that require extensive design and fabrication experience.
The company has 3,600 square feet of production/office space, plus a large garage with a roll up door for vehicles. The production space has a walled off area with a roll up door where they have a small paint booth and other fabrication equipment. The rest of the area is a ‘clean’ environment.
There is significant potential to grow the business working with General Contractors. As long as they continue to build apartments, senior housing, and other units that require lots of signs this is a good vertical to pursue. It is competitive but the company has good relationships with the general contractors. The company goes out of their way to ensure the projects are done on time and exceed expectations. The sign business is fairly resilient - even with upheaval from Covid-19 and the impact on the economy they continue to stay busy.
There are a myriad of small, unlicensed sign businesses in the area, but the owner does not consider them to be competition. There are a number of legitimate (conducting operations legally) sign companies within their service area that are considered competitors, however the company's specialty in ADA signs sets them apart.
The owners are ready to retire.
